To Love is to Give, Lead and Believe
To love is to give, not receive. Whilst relationships tend to be mutual, our focus should be on giving. There is too much me-isms in relationships- 'love me', 'give me' 'respect me' 'buy me' pay attention to me' and so on. Concentrate on giving, so instead of the me-isms, 'love him/her' 'give him/her' 'pay attention to him/her' 'respect him/her'....do all these without expecting anything back in return. Now I know what you are thinking, this wont work out unless its both ways and you are right. It wont. what I am saying is set your mind to give from the start. If after a while you are still giving and no reprocication is received. It might be time to discuss with your significant other or let go eventually.
To love is to lead. By lead, I mean lead you S.O to his/herself. We spend too much time trying to get our S.O to understand us, our beliefs, our views and so on. While this is great in getting each to know each other, what are you doing to get him/her to know him/herself better. Is your relationship leading your S.O to their true self? Is their self-knowledge increasing constantly and how are you contributing to this?
To love is to believe. Believe not only in yourself or your S.O, but believe that the universe will nurture your relationship to be the best it can be. Believe that there is a greater power that binds you both through the good and bad times.

The Sanctuary Of Marriage
I overheard my sister talking on the phone to one of her friends. 'I got engaged! I got engaged last night' I recognised the voice, it was a friend of our from high school. Well, more of my sister's friend. Whilst I understand how joyous it must be for her to be engaged to her boyfriend of three years, I became worried when I heard them discussing marriage and pregnancy. ' That will be you next year' said my sister, to which she replied by urging my sister to hurry up and join in their 'league'. You see, our other high school friend also got engaged and married last december.
So why am I worried? The friend that my sister was speaking to is 23. The other friend that got married in december is 23 as well. Both have not finished college, have no solid career, no business plans, nothing. They do want to get married and have kids though. To avoid being branded a 'hater', I kept shut. I am younger than all of them but I was allowed to skip grades in junior high school as I was quite intelligent so me trying to say anything would be like pouring water into a bucket with a hole. You see, perhaps that formulae works for some people. Perhaps, they will find their happiness, at least, I pray they do.
However my question is why? Women are rushing into marriage at a very young ages straight from their parents house into the marital home with no experience of managing bills, not much experience of the real world as they are still in college or just fresh out. Am I missing something? We as women now have a million and one options to expand and grow into our selves, financially, emotionally, physically and so much more. Are we taking time to truly grow into ourselves before throwing ourselves into the deep end of marriage? Have you truly lived in the fullness of the world and in yourself enough to share with someone else? At 23, I really dont think so.
There are SO MANY different views on age and marriage, especially where age is concerned. Plus hey, who am I to say what is right for who. Bottomline is find your happiness and be aware that true love only exists when it leads you to yourself. True love will make you realise your inner strenght, your dreams and take you out of your limitations. True love brings true growth; spiritually, finantially, emotionally, it expands your knowledge, it leads you to realise the full potential of the being that is you. This is love, and this is what should bring you both into the sanctuary of marriage.

Leveraging Tips for Small Business Starters
I think the three most important issues new business owners face are
i) Time
ii) Money
iii) Employees
As we all know, time is money. If you were aware that for every 15 minutes that your business's IT system goes down, your company loses $1000, I'm sure you will see the need as to why leveraging your IT support during start up is essential. In the Information Age, getting data is critical.
In business, we need productivity. This means your time, or more accurately, your employee's time need to be used as efficiently as possible to maximise the returns of your business. To maximise your employee's time, leveraged systems need to be in place. Just as your employee's time is a leverage, your employee's skill is also a leverage. According to R.Kiyosaki, we need to work with or indeed hire employees or partners that are 'smarter' than us. By doing this, we leverage training time, or even worse, time spent recovering from rookie mistakes. Notice that I did not say anything about 'reducing cost' as a way of leverage. Whilst a business needs to be cost effective, to maximise time, we must spend our business dollars in the right leverage.
Below are a few things I learnt when I started setting up my first business.
1) Location and facilities.
For small business owners, serviced offices are a very efficient form of leverage. Most serviced offices are already in renown locations and offer front desk and administration services. These services should be included in the total cost per month. As with anything else, you will need to do your research and consider a lot of factors in choosing your serviced office. You will need the basic services such as parking, furnishing, IT support, reception services, telephony, Internet, conferencing etc rolled up into the monthly costs. Be wary of serviced offices that charge extra for services such as faxing, photocopying etc These can roll up into huge costs at month's end.
You need to determine if you are a client or staff driven organisation. If clients will need to come in on frequent basis, choose a convenient and easily accessible location. If you are a staff driven company, such as asset managers, your choice is wider and you may substantially reduce costs by going a couple of miles from the city center.
Avoid the temptation of getting your own office and fitting your computers, getting and Internet/phone provider etc Whilst this may work out cheaper ( and I doubt it), the time that will go into keeping track of bills, supplies and maintenance might work against you and your employees use of time. The less time you and your employee spend worrying about IT and maintenance, the more time that can be leveraged towards being productive in business. The right serviced office can be a great leverage tool for your business .
2) Get an Administrative Officer
..Or what we all know as 'admin'. An admin is responsible for filing, updating supplies, invoicing, software updates, reception, telephone answering etc. I can't imagine why a sales employee should be doing any excessive filing or answering calls about stationery and so on. These are ad-hoc duties. You need to figure out which members of your team are the key players and shift their ad-hoc duties to admin. Filing is laborious and time consuming, but admins are trained for this - your sales employee is not; which makes the ad-hoc duties take even longer. If you run an estate agency, your sales team should be getting leads, conducting viewing and closing sales. The paperwork is passed to admin who will in turn keep a tabbed filing system with easy accessibility. The right administrative officer can be a great leverage tool for freeing up time for your key player while still sorting out the 'necessary clutter'.
3) Get with the information age.
I once wanted to buy a lead on a property quite reasonably under priced. It took me 5 minutes to get the email, read the email, and try to pay for the lead. I was told the lead was purchased 2 minutes earlier.
You need to find the right technology for your business. It can be what makes the difference between a 'good company' and a 'great company' or indeed between a productive one and another that's just 'getting by'. There are thousands of companies that offer overpriced 'new age' technology, there are others that are free or for next to nothing. Do you have ways to update your client of your product? Is it concise and straight to the point. Do you offer updates by automated sms? Can your employees receive there email on the go? Have you looked into Internet telephony to replace your huge monthly phone bills?
The right technology can put your ahead of others in the same field. Now when there is a lead, I am updated immediately via my blackberry email or rss feed. I then pay for the lead..with a text message.
4)Create a system & Employ people smarter than you
This might sound a bit contrived but yes, employ people you don't have to train. In future, hiring trainees might be a good idea..but not for your first small business start up. A business should be a 'set and forget' with the right people working on your system. A system is a set of protocols that your employees need to observe. McDonald's have a system for cooking hamburgers, your company needs a system for achieving the final service or product. Once this system is in place, hiring people who know even more about your system drives productivity. You wouldn't even need to be there and you can start using your time to create more ideas and invest money into other businesses. In this respect, you are leveraging off other people's skills.
This also includes third parties that work with your company such as accountants, brokers, lawyers, estate agents, software companies etc. These companies have to supply unquestionably superb services. They should be able to work seamlessly with your company without you or your employees using valuable time on the phone asking why the tax returns are not completed or why the staff's salary payments are late. The third parties you work with an be a good leverage on your time and productivity. Research and ask for references before committing to their services.
5) Cut uneccessary costs.
Knowledge is money. OK, it's power but you know what I mean. I see business phone bills all the time and they are alarming. I only have one word VOIP. Voip is now so sophisticated that they now come as home phones and wireless handsets. Calls are typically a cent a minute to landlines. a cost you can easily offset by getting an national number that you are PAID a cent a minute for. You do the maths. Get a blackberry on an 'unlimited' price plan if your business involves peak client calls. This can be easily bundled with unlimited emails and data transfers for just a bit extra per month. Whatever you do, don't call mobiles from your office land line. Stationery supplies can be 4 times more expensive on the high street, Shop from retail office stationers instead.
The bottom line is, do your research before overpaying for a service you could have gotten for 10 times cheaper, and just as efficient. For you business owners with employees that need to travel frequently, keep that expense sheet monitored by admin. Cristal is NOT an expense.
Finally, there are a thousand and one ways to leverage. However, the greatest advantage of leverage is time. The more time you and your employees have to focus on productivity, the higher your turnover.
i) Time
ii) Money
iii) Employees

Letting Go
I had to let go of someone today, for a while at least. Letting go of friends or people in general can be painful, regardless of how neccessary it is. However, today is the first day of the second quater of 2007. There are some things that we have to move on from to experience new things. Now that I have let go, I can move on, even if time brings us back together again, I have let it go.
Now that that is over, I can start blogging regularly again.

Creating Your World
Have you ever felt that the only thing standing between you and doing the things you want to do might be some really fickle things like the things people say or things people do? The tongue holds all sorts of power and so do the people behind the tongue. Most of our battles are from within and even though we fail to admit it, the things people say will affect 90% of our unconscious decisions. For example, a 17 year old high schooler whose goal is to proceed into further education might come from an underprivileged home where the chances of college education are slim. She is focused on doing her best and getting a scholarship or she might even be prepared to work through college. However, her support system is weak, family laughs at her, peers says she should really forfeit that dream. She is constantly bombarded by negative encouragement. Now this is just an example, we all face a lot of similar situations where we encounter negativity and lack of support. The key to getting through all these discouragements and emerging on top of your dreams is creating your own world.
In this new world, the only people that matter are those who believe and add positively to your dreams. In this new world everyone else and what they say really don't count. I remember a time my dad sat me down and started making suggestions as to how and what I am supposed to be doing with my life. Needless to say, these suggestions were in the 180 degree direction to mine. However, this was my dad, I am not going to walk off as I firmly believe in respect and humility. What I did was I managed to go into my little world for the duration of the 1 hour of the time he thought we were having a positive conversation that fitted into his ideas for my life. I kept nodding my head with the many variations of 'uhun'. In reality, I was imagining this place where I had fulfilled my dreams, how I got there, how wonderful it felt, how much hard work put in.. I was essentially not in the same room, or world, as my dad was.
This has worked for me A LOT. I killed two birds with one stone by showing my dad that his opinions are welcome but I disallowed his negativity from getting to me by..well, not really listening. I use this for essentially anyone who do not understand my dreams or visions, this could be anyone from family to old friends to people who you don't even know that judge you regardless. Your world is a place of reassurance, a place of hope, a place to reprimand yourself and keep yourself steering is the right direction, a place to work hard until you succeed. Only you and believers of your dream will be present in this world.
Now wouldn't it be nice if all your family and friends were able to live with you in this world. Yes, it would, but life does not always happen this way. You will need to let go of loved ones and love them outside of your world. Remember, this is your life, it is your responsibility. you cannot blame your future failure on anyone. So, as long as your dreams and your goals are realistic (see my blog on dream, plan and execute) then it is time to create your world. Sometimes you will need to move a physical distance of your world far away from anyone outside your world. By this, I mean you may have to leave home, move to somewhere else where you can focus and carry out your goals within your own world.
In summary, the things people say can affect your dreams and goals. Do not fall into this cycle. Create your own world and move your world away physically and mentally from the outside world. Remember, your world may not necessarily consist of people you have known for the whole of your life. The only people relevant in that world are those who believe in your dreams This doesn't mean abandoning your family, friends etc Just because they don't believe in your dreams doesn't mean they are terrible people. Love them outside of your world but keep your world exclusive and be able to keep them outside of your world but inside of your life.

Feeding Your Shortcomings
No one is perfect. Regardless of what message the new age media might be communicating, there is no one without one or two areas that they are just terrible at. I know I have mine.
Our shortcomings, no matter how trivial they may be, will affect us and the relationships we have in more than one way. I know the title of this post might be misleading as 'feeding' something will actually cause it to grow. No, the post title does not imply making your shortcomings even worse than they already are. Imagine every area of your life (spiritual, financial etc) as healthy 11 year old kids. Now imagine your shortcoming as looking like a very under malnourished 11 year old kid. Feeding your shortcoming will mean bringing it back to the state where it should be.
Shortcoming vary from very trivial things to very important stuff. However, they will most likely affect us and our relationships with people in similar ways. Shortcomings could be anything from knowing how to cook to cleanliness or more serious issues such as time or anger management.
Identifying your Shortcomings
Denial is something special. Most of us are blind to see or accept the fact that we do have shortcoming. An adult who is not a good house keeper, especially a female might not see this as a shortcoming until she decides to live together with her significant other. An overweight individual may not see the reason to lose weight or have a carefree attitude towards losing weight until they have a serious risk condition caused by obesity. A less than confident individual may have been doing OK just getting by' and coping with the stresses of the society until one day, something hits home and they breakdown.
Whatever it is that your shortcoming is, identifying it is key to feeding it. In most cases, you short coming would have been pointed out to you before, probably more than once. I am not happy with my shortcomings so I take active steps to eliminate them. If you are comfortable with your shortcomings, you are in denial. A shortcoming hinders you from reaching your true potential. It will always be there waiting to bring you down when you least expect. Is that what you really want? Wouldn't you rather identify it and start taking actions towards it?
I'll tell about my shortcoming. I am not the tidiest person you know. I work 24/7 so my brain just automatically sees tidiness as something that is less important. You will find my clothes on the floor and yes, my shoes will be at the north and south poles of the room. Secretly, I wished I could be immaculate but I honestly don't have time for it. I didn't make any excuse for it, I just thought about a way to feed it. Trying to be tidy was out of the question, I had little time for it.
Feeding Your Shortcomings
There was only one solution, hiring a cleaner. Yes, I said it. Yes, it costs. Yes, that means a little extra out of my pocket BUT the shoes are in the racks, the beds are made and having a tidy clean and scented environment is what i would rather come home to. However, if you did not know this and came to visit me at home you might be in shock of how 'in place' everything is. Of course I didn't do it, but my space is tidy. Goal achieved. Shortcoming fed, this time- with money. Be aware that feeding a shortcoming with money will be expensive but for me this solution is cost effective and fit into my personal life.
However, the way I feed mine does not automatically mean that is the only way. If I had more time, I probably could dedicate specific times of the day to making my space and environment more welcoming. This goes for anything else, because there are some things money cant buy, some shortcomings need to be fed through time, hard work, practice and dedication. Obviously, this only works if you are tired of your shortcoming and you are ready to do something about it.
I am yet to see a shortcoming that a solution cannot be found for. If you are willing to feed your shortcomings, it WILL eat. We as a people need to strive to be better. The phrase ' my imperfections make me perfect' is true to a certain degree but some people take this too far. The less shortcomings you have, the better you will feel and the more accomplished you can be in life. Take action today.
